RAHMANAN ANTIQUE & DECORATIVE RUGS

The royal blue field displays an artistic interpretation of the Mahajeran Sarouk pattern of ivory floral sprays on blue, in this c. 1910 north Indian carpet. The correctness of the interpretation extends to the rose tone main border with arabesques and open palmettes. This is more than a copy, more of a creative expansion of the type into hitherto unexplored areas of design.
